1. Single Purpose of the Extension

The extension may help users:

2. Information the Extension Accesses

To perform its single purpose, IG Media Saver may access limited information from supported Instagram pages that the user opens in the browser.

  • Video or reel URLs when available in the page

  • Post or reel identifiers when available
  • Username/page context when available

3. Information Stored Locally

IG Media Saver stores some information locally in the user’s browser using Chrome extension storage.

4. Pro License Verification

IG Media Saver offers optional Pro Lifetime features.

If a user purchases Pro Lifetime through Gumroad, the user may enter a Gumroad license key inside the extension.

When the user verifies the license, the extension sends the license key and product identifier to Gumroad’s license verification API to confirm whether the license is valid.

The extension uses Gumroad license verification only to:

  • Confirm Pro Lifetime activation
  • Refresh license validity
  • Unlock Pro-only features
  • Prevent invalid, refunded, disputed, or inactive licenses from remaining active

IG Media Saver does not collect credit card numbers, billing details, payment history, or financial account information. Payments are handled by Gumroad according to Gumroad’s own policies.

5. Categories of User Data Handled

Authentication Information

The extension may process a Gumroad license key entered by the user to activate Pro Lifetime. The license key is used only to verify Pro status with Gumroad and unlock paid features.

Website Content

The extension may access website content on supported Instagram pages only for its single purpose: detecting media elements, media URLs, media type, and scanned media counts so the user can choose what to download.

IG Media Saver does not transfer user data to third parties except where necessary for the extension’s single purpose.

The only third-party service used by the extension for Pro activation is Gumroad’s license verification API. When a user enters a Pro license key, that key is sent to Gumroad to verify whether the license is valid.

The extension does not share Instagram media data with advertising networks, analytics companies, or unrelated third parties.

9. Remote Code

IG Media Saver does not use remote code.

All JavaScript, HTML, CSS, icons, and images required for the extension are included in the packaged Chrome extension.

The extension does not load external JavaScript files, does not load remote WebAssembly, and does not use eval() to execute remote code.

Network requests may be made only for the extension’s allowed functionality, such as verifying a Gumroad license key or downloading user-selected media.

10. Permissions Used

IG Media Saver requests only the permissions required for its single purpose.

Downloads Permission

The downloads permission is required so the extension can save user-selected media files through Chrome’s download manager.

Storage Permission

The storage permission is required to remember extension settings, folder preferences, filename templates, free bulk usage count, license verification status, and Pro activation state.

Instagram Host Access

Access to supported Instagram pages is required so the extension can detect visible media, add Save buttons, show the download toolbar, scan profile media, and provide download filters.

Gumroad API Access

Access to Gumroad’s API is required only to verify Pro Lifetime license keys entered by the user.

The extension does not request cookies permission, webRequest permission, or access to all websites.

11. User Control

Users control when the extension downloads media.

Downloads happen only after the user chooses an action such as:

  • Current Post
  • Current Slide
  • Profile Picture
  • Current Story
  • Download All
  • Images Only
  • Reels/Videos
  • Download All Scanned

Pro users also control auto-scroll scanning with Pause, Resume, and Stop controls.

Users can remove the extension at any time from Chrome by going to:

12. Data Retention

Most data used by IG Media Saver is processed locally in the browser.

Settings, usage count, and license status remain stored locally until the user removes the extension, clears extension storage, or resets the browser profile.

License verification may be refreshed periodically to confirm that the Pro license remains valid.

13. Children’s Privacy

IG Media Saver is not directed to children under the age of 13.

The extension does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

14. Fair Use and Content Rights

IG Media Saver is intended only for saving content that the user owns, created, manages, or has permission to download.

Using the extension does not give the user ownership of any content. Users are responsible for respecting copyright law, privacy rights, creator rights, platform terms, and all applicable laws.

Do not use the extension to download, copy, reuse, repost, distribute, or monetize content without proper rights or permission.
